Bigger Every Day.

square2.jpg

There’s the small — not as small as she used to be. The scan’s bad (contrast and all that), but I love this image anyway. It’s rare to get her smiling without the pacifier these days.

And in other news: Spain beat Germany 1-0 in the EUEFA Euro 2008 Cup. Good times.

Site Update.

I’d been thinking about doing this for some time so when the opportunity presented itself, I got enough to add a few to the website.

I played with the contrast for this one, but the version over at the site is a little less… intense.

I like the shot and several of the others I got that day. Thanks, fellas. It was great.

Family.

Isn’t that what it’s all about anyway?
The mom pictured here liked the scans better than the contact sheet I gave her when I shot this series so I went back and pulled a few more. I like this combination and I prefer the border to not having one at all.

It’s funny how cross processed negs on the same roll, shot the same day under the same conditions can look so different. I had to play with the saturation in photoshop to make these come closer to matching. I wonder if printing them (which is how I used to do it) would have been markedly different.

Anyway, here they are:

And Another.

I’d forgotten that I’d shot a roll of cross processed stuff with the boys. I only scanned one, tentatively. The coloring has a nostalgic feel, I think. *shrug*

Laziness.

I have film to process and I haven’t done it. I also have a bunch of images I wanna work on and just haven’t gotten them done.

In the meantime, here’s an attempt at merging multiple images. It’s triptych. I just got these two gentlemen to model for me over the weekend and pulled these negs out of the archives. I think the next batch will be pretty cool.

Photos of Me.

There are hardly any images of me that I like. I was digging around in my office (at home) today and came across school pictures where I have a “crustache” and what my friends less than affectionately referred to as “chin pubes.” Suffice it to say, I hate looking at my own photograph.

Today though, my mother-in-law gave me this awesome image of me and the small. It might be my new fave. You can judge for yourself.

Excuse the fact that it’s a quick ‘n dirty scan. I was so taken with it that I wanted to make sure it got back to its frame and thence to my office. I’ll try to grab the neg from her so I can get a better scan.

Life on the Farm.

Actually, on the Farmtable Designs.

Shot some stuff for some buds of mine to update their website. It sort of gave me some insight into what catalog shooters must do. I’m not unhappy with the results but I’m certain I could’ve nailed this with an assistant.

Check out their site. It’s still being put together, but you can kinda get a feel for what they’re doing.

Boat Graveyard.

It really was a drydock repair yard, but I’m convinced if I could’ve been there an hour or so later, these would have been just a little darker. The Holga makes this kinda stuff prettier anyway.

What’re You Lookin’ At?

Nothing truly moving to share, so have a look at this flamingo. The Holga didn’t scare him.

The Beach.

I read somewhere that photo editors like to see pictures from the real lives of the photographers that they hire. Whether that’s true or not is moot. I liked this picture. The thing that galls me is that there are no clouds.

I never realized how important clouds were until I found myself pining for them every time I shot pictures outside. *sigh*

Anyway, here’s m’girls. Ain’t they precious?
